The National Statistics Bureau is pleased to release the Quarterly Gross Domestic Product, First Quarter (Q1) 2026.
Key Highlights:
- Economic Performance (GDP)
- The economy size was estimated at 69,453.22 million in Q1 2026.
- Real GDP grew by 5.78 percent year-on-year, an increase of 6,056.74 million at current prices compared to the same quarter last year.
- Sectoral Growth
- Primary sector: Contracted by 40 percent, with GVA of Nu. 6,765.20 million.
- Secondary sector: Expanded by 96 percent, with GVA of Nu. 19,565.74 million.
- Tertiary sector: Grew 76 percent, contributing Nu. 43,122.28 million to GDP.
- Structure of the Economy
- Tertiary sector (Services):09 percent;
- Secondary sector (Industry):17 percent; and
- Primary sector (Agriculture):74 Percent.
Services remain the largest contributor to the economy.
