National Accounts Report 2011

10th October 2011 : NSB is pleased to release the National Accounts Statistics for 2010. The economy, buoyed largely by hydro-power related construction activities, recorded a double digit growth of 11.77 percent in 2010 as compared to a moderate 6.73 percent in 2009. .

The construction sector contributed with 20.61 percent, manufacturing with 20.18 percent, wholesale and retail trade with 20.02 percent, transport, storage and communication with 11.14 percent respectively to the overall growth.

In nominal terms, GDP grew by 18.38 percent recording Nu.72, 477.61 million as compared to Nu. 61, 223.46 million in 2009.

Unlike in the past, the secondary and service sectors have become the main drivers of the economy, with their shares to the total GDP increasing as high as 40 percent. The growth in the service sector was about 16 percent over the previous year, while that of the industrial sector was 13 percent.

Per capita income in 2010 is estimated at USD 2,277.16 which is equivalent to Nu. 104,134.50.  (Download)
